Netflix’s Kinda Pregnant is exactly what you’d expect from an Amy Schumer-led comedy – for better or worse. Just as Jeff Goldblum always plays Jeff Goldblum, Amy Schumer is unmistakably Amy Schumer in this film. If you enjoy her signature humor and movies like I Feel Pretty, this one might be for you. If not, you might want to skip it.

Schumer stars as Lainy, a complex and kinda self-absorbed woman who believes she’s about to be proposed to – only to get dumped instead. In an attempt to gain back some control (and attention), she fakes a pregnancy. What starts as a small lie quickly spirals out of control, especially when she meets her new crush, Josh (Will Forte), while still pretending to be pregnant.

Lainy has to hide her fake pregnancy from her best friend and colleague, Kate (Jillian Bell), who adds her own brand of chaotic energy to the mix. Along the way, she befriends a real mom-to-be at a prenatal yoga class, Megan (Brianne Howey, known for Ginny & Georgia). The ensemble cast also features Damon Wayans Jr. as Dave, Urzila Carlson as Fallon, Lizze Broadway as Shirley, and Chris Geere as Steve, all adding layers of humor and absurdity to the story.

The comedy is exactly what you’d expect from Schumer – cringe humor, awkward moments, and a heavy dose of self-deprecating jokes. While some scenes are genuinely funny, much of the humor feels recycled from her previous work. The movie tries to balance comedy with an emotional arc, but it never quite lands the deeper, heartfelt moments in a meaningful way.

Visually and structurally, Kinda Pregnant follows the formula of many recent Netflix comedies. It’s watchable, mildly entertaining, and perfect for a lazy evening, but it’s unlikely to leave a lasting impression.

Final Verdict: If you’re a fan of Amy Schumer’s comedy, you’ll likely enjoy Kinda Pregnant. If not, this film probably won’t change your mind.
