Our Little Secret

Full Review

“A Festive Rom-Com with Secrets, Silliness, and Sentimentality” – Lindsay Lohan makes her sparkling return to Netflix’s Christmas lineup in Our Little Secret, a festive rom-com that leans into the charm and chaos of the holiday season. This time, she stars as Avery, who reconnects with her kindergarten sweetheart, Logan (Ian Harding), in the most unexpected of circumstances.

The story kicks off with Avery moving to London after her mother’s death, which causes her to lose touch with Logan, after a disagreement. Fast forward 10 years, and both Avery and Logan find themselves spending Christmas at their respective partners’ homes—only to discover that Cassie (Katie Baker) and Cameron (Jon Rudnitsky), their current flames, are siblings! Adding to the fun is the family matriarch Erica (Kristin Chenoweth), who brings her signature sass and humor to the role of a mother who isn’t exactly fond of Avery, especially since her beloved son Cameron is a bit of a mama’s boy.

The real mischief begins when Avery and Logan decide to keep their shared romantic past a secret, leading to a series of misunderstandings, comedic moments, and heartfelt revelations. The ensemble cast adds to the film’s charm, with plenty of likable side characters who each have their moments to shine.

As with most holiday movies, Our Little Secret doesn’t stray far from the formula. It’s predictable and full of tropes, but that’s part of the genre’s cozy appeal. The humor is light and enjoyable, with enough witty dialogue and situational comedy to keep things entertaining. Kristin Chenoweth, in particular, steals scenes with her over-the-top yet lovable portrayal of a protective (and occasionally meddling) mother.

While it doesn’t reinvent the Christmas rom-com wheel, Our Little Secret delivers exactly what you’d expect: a fun, festive film with a bit of romance, a lot of laughs, and a warm holiday spirit. It’s perfect for a cozy night in with a cup of hot cocoa and a craving for something lighthearted and cheerful.
